To certify potential homes as Washington State licensed foster care homes and to coordinate the placement of children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides training, consultation and support to new and current foster, receiving and adoptive homes. Monitors these homes for licensing compliance and provides re-assessment when necessary.
Arranges foster home placements.
Coordinates pre-service requirements with perspective foster parents, i.e. training, application, CPR/first aid resources, etc.
Prepares monthly foster home invoices when necessary.
Collaborates with PTCS staff in completing and routing criminal background checks.
Performs home studies to determine the suitability of the family in becoming foster parents, including the preparation of detailed and comprehensive home studies and licensing reports.
Assists foster parents with completing required training hours for on-going licensing compliance.
Maintains documentation and records for foster parent case files as required by tribal department policy and procedures and licensing standards.
Collaborates with other Washington State Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) offices for purposes of foster home licensing.
Participates in foster home recruitment activities such as community events, information seminars, and pow wows.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in a related field is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of a four-year college degree and a minimum one year work experience providing social services in Native American communities. Strong public speaking skills, knowledge of adult learning styles and experience providing direct training preferred. Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel and Power Point.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Licenses or Certificates
Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted Washington State driver’s license and proof of insurance. Driver’s License restrictions must not prohibit an employee from complying with the Tribe’s Vehicle Use Policy or operating GSA vehicles.
Current First Aid and CPR certification and HIV/AIDS training.
Must pass Washington State DSHS criminal history and CPS background inquiry every two years unless otherwise indicated.
Willing to attend trainings for professional development.
