The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at Portland State University seeks outstanding candidates for an instructional non-tenure track faculty position in the area of computer architecture. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and will be qualified to teach a broad range of courses in electrical and computer engineering. This faculty member will typically be responsible for teaching two 4-credit courses each quarter. Additional responsibilities include service to the department, college and university, and supervision of one or two capstone teams. This position is focused on instructional responsibilities, but may include supporting scholarly activities and service to the community and profession. Excellence in teaching is expected. Instructional activities include the development and teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses in computer architecture. Teaching assignments may include other undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical and computer engineering at all levels of instruction. Instruction may occur at both the main campus in downtown Portland as well as the Willow Creek Center in Hillsboro. Some courses are scheduled for the evening. Other instructional activities include supervision of graduate teaching assistants, graders, course assistants, student advising, office hours, and working with modern instructional tools and course management systems such as D2L.
Master of Science Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related discipline. Significant industry experience in computer architecture
One or more years of college or university teaching experience.
Availability to teach in both downtown Portland and Hillsboro during days and evenings
Doctorate Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated teaching excellence
Experience teaching graduate and undergraduate electrical and computer engineering courses
Capable of teaching graduate courses in integrated circuit design
