Department Description The Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical services (prescriptions, unit dose, IV admixtures and chemotherapy, clinical infusion pumps and teaching) throughout the Medical Center complex 24 hours per day. The Department is comprised of three inpatient and six outpatient pharmacies, a sterile production lab and the full complement of pharmacy purchasing, stores and distribution. Emphasis on sterile preparation of chemotherapy and IV admixture. Required Qualifications
Registration with the California State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
Working knowledge of and skill to apply practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to areas of expertise.
Experience performing sterile preparation of chemotherapy and IV admixture.
Current knowledge of generic brand names of all formulary drugs and understanding of the use restrictions that may apply.
Knowledge of repackaging medications.
Knowledge of how to compound liquid and other special preparations.
Must know maximum allowable concentrations and dilution standards.
Must know pharmacy terminology, and drug abbreviations.
Must know medication labeling requirements.
Knowledge of current California Pharmacy Law.
Knowledge of current Medi-Cal Formulary and other third-party billing systems.
Prior UCDH Pharmacy experience.
