ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Welcome Center supports the mission of Bellevue College (BC) by providing high quality, flexible and accessible services that support student access to educational opportunities that advance pluralism, inclusion, and global awareness. It is one of the departments that make up the Student Affairs Division, which includes a service area for students, the public, and the campus community. The Welcome Center is committed with the development of regional partnerships, community outreach, admission guidance, and prospective student support through the use of technology, information sessions, admission advising, outreach events, and campus tours.
POSITION DUTIES Outreach an Recruitment Recruit prospective students at off-campus events including high school college fairs, special visits, and community events while addressing diverse audiences. Provide entry advising to prospective student applicants about opportunities available at Bellevue College. Develop partnerships with off-campus community organizations;Manage outreach requests and update outreach events. Analyze data needed to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach and recruitment efforts. Information and Customer Services Support Welcome Center everyday operations. Assist the department in coordinating campus tours, information sessions, and New Student Orientations; Provide tours and present as needed. Follow up with prospective students by email, phone, and written materials. Operations Management Establish an expectation that all BC Ambassadors to use a direct transformational service model when working with prospective students, campus visitors, and BC students in person, on the phone, email, or via online. Train BC Ambassadors to focus on the prospective student experience and to take a holistic approach when working with prospective students and families during outreach events at Bellevue College or in the region. Support the Outreach Director and Admission Advisors to build an effective team. Supervise designated BC Ambassadors in outreach events. Help to select and hire BC Ambassadors, make recommendations for disciplinary action, approve/deny leave requests, evaluate BC Ambassadors performance on a yearly basis, resolve grievances in consultation with HR, establish office expectations, and take corrective action. Other In collaboration with Institutional Advancement, create communication materials for prospective and newly admitted students. Manage inventory and budget for outreach materials. Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree. Relevant work experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year by year basis. Demonstrated experience working with students from diverse ethnic, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds. Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel frequently. Demonstrated ability to work flexible hours including frequent evening and weekend hours. Demonstrated ability to effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills (application materials are used to evaluate written skill level). Experience giving presentations to small and large groups. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years' experience working in a higher education or community college setting
