UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for a day shift, full-time, CLINICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN LEAD . The CLT Lead will lead Clinical Laboratory Technicians 1 and 2 and assigned staff, collaborate with other leads, act as client service liaison between laboratory and clients, outside agencies, internal departments and medical staff with handling specimen management and material transport issues for the UW Hematopathology lab, oversee and perform, as needed, at a technical level, various procedures / tasks supporting the operation of the flow cytometry, developmental, molecular, and morphology sections of the UW Hematopathology laboratory, update established processes and procedures and develops and evaluates new ones, troubleshoot issues that arise with specimen management as well as customer service needs, provide feedback and educational training to assigned staff as needed, and represent the Hematopathology Lab and acts as a resource for staff, faculty, outside clients and other departments, while maintaining established performance standards.
Regularly assigns, instructs, and checks the work of CLT1 and CLT2
Provides input to the SPS Supervisor and manager on employee performance
Participates in the interview process, orientation, and training for new staff
Coordinates lunches / breaks to ensure adequate coverage for CLT benches
Communicates with other leads if additional help is needed in areas
Accessions and manages clinical and developmental materials
Manages encounter number requests for consults
Maintains competency and perform job duties of a CLT1/CLT2 when needed
Works efficiently with Hematopathology team by responding to requests for information pertaining to reports, slides, and blocks from inside and outside of the hospital
Locates, delivers, and retrieves materials and paperwork in a timely manner
Confers with clients, outside agencies, internal departments and medical staff regarding the ordering, compiling, organizing, tracking, distributing, and delivery of materials.
Compiles, catalogs and organizes information and materials for conferences.

REQUIREMENTS: An Associate Degree from a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program including courses in chemistry and biology AND one year of Clinical Laboratory Technician experience. OR equivalent education/experience.
Associate degrees in the sciences with emphasis in chemistry and biology and an additional two years clinical lab experience or bachelor's degrees in the sciences such as biochemistry, molecular or cellular biology would be competitive for this position with one year clinical lab experience
Knowledge or experience with data entry systems such as PowerPath, Hematopathology database and Sunquest LIS
Knowledge or experience with handling and tracking of consult, referral, and additional testing materials and maintaining tracking documentation in Powertrax and HC1
Experience accessioning and processing specimens in a clinical lab
Knowledge or experience with MAC computers and Microsoft WORD and EXCEL
Excellent phone skills, emphasis on customer service
