We are looking for software developers/engineers with a broad set of technical skills to take on problems across the full-stack in areas including:
Web UI Development utilizing, React, Cesium, RESTful APIs
Core development in Java, Python, C++
DevOps mindset with focus on design and implementing modern development and platform environments with CI/CD pipelines, Git, GitLab Runners, Container solutions, and Terraform/Ansible
Full Stack prototyping, pathfinding new concepts to solve technology challenges which mitigate risk and provide future solutions for projects

On any given day you may be called on to:
Work on an Agile team to develop software systems which solve the most challenging remote sensing problems, including the capture, processing, exploitation, visualization and distribution of real-time satellite sensor data
Work collaboratively with architects, developers, technical leads, customers, and end users to collect requirements, design solutions, and deliver extensible software applications
Contribute to deeply rewarding missions through engagement with diverse computer science specialties and in areas such as data fusion, signal processing, analytics, cloud computing, machine learning, modeling/simulation, service-oriented architectures, and in the future big-data management and visualization, plus pattern recognition
Candidates will be interviewed and hired to support one or multiple teams within the 6377—Software Simulation/Analysis department.
This role has exciting growth opportunities and is an integral part of the successful delivery of our systems. Additionally, this role will also include a variety of interactions across MSS (6370) and the program, including collaboration with partner organizations and partner projects. The Software Simulation & Analysis department performs research and development to advance flexible, extensible, and robust software applications for remote sensing system-level simulation as well as simulation-based analysis for test and verification all of which helps to transform data to knowledge enabling our customers to take action with confidence.
The current effort we are undergoing is a technical refresh of our high-fidelity modeling and simulation system. We evaluate, prototype, and implement the latest software industry standards, security, practices, and architectures for regeneration of our legacy system. From our extensive history and expertise, we look to lead the future and vision for modeling/simulation from our refresh expansion and revitalization.
The department develops top-notch competencies within computer science using high consequence agile software engineering applied to modeling & simulation (M&S) and in systems engineering & analysis.

Undergraduate and Graduate (Masters or PhD) degree in Computer Science; a Computer Science bachelor's degree plus 4 years directly related experience may also be considered
Experience in software design, engineering and development skills, including familiarity with modern software development practices and tools
Proven experience with object-oriented software development (e.g., Java and Python)
Can obtain a DOE Q clearance with SCI
Knowledge and experience with implementation of the full software development process using Agile or Iterative methodologies such as Scrum and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Experience with cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, etc.)
Self-directed, organized, and able to work independently as well as in a large team environment
Experience developing critical data processing and analysis systems
Proven strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
Outstanding communication and presentation skills
Ability to work with various disciplines across multiple development sub-teams
Strong organizational skills
The ability to handle multiple tasks and handle contending priorities
Strong customer-focus and can-do response to questions/requests with demonstrated outstanding follow through
Current SCI clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship.
