The Director of Development, Financial Aid & Scholarships will be integral to our success.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Development for Scholarships and Student Support Initiatives, the Director of Development, Financial Aid and Scholarships will serve as a major gift officer and will establish long-range goals and objectives for development programs and activities that reflect the priorities in the areas of Financial Aid and Scholarships. In collaboration with other members of the campus development team, this individual will determine market feasibility for fundraising priorities, provide advice and council to volunteers and donors, engage high-level volunteers to provide community linkage development programs and work with volunteers and donors to assist with specific solicitations and other programmatic elements as necessary. The Director will meet with faculty and leadership in priority areas and gain knowledge of interests and areas of expertise; serve as a staff resource to the areas of Financial Aid and Scholarships; and represent these areas and UCLA Development to the broader community. The Director will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with appropriate individuals and offices in External Affairs and across campus; use available data to develop constituencies and identify prospects in relation to priorities; organize and conduct meetings of volunteers, donors and key stakeholders designed to identify new prospective donors for private support and to demonstrate programmatic growth; develop and maintain a core group of prospects for major giving; and maintain active awareness of individuals in the prospect pool at various stages of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. This individual will also work with the Executive Director on programmatic management and planning to include establishing an annual operating plan for major gift activity, develop an annual budget and review and revise program goals and objectives at appropriate intervals. The Director will also work closely with the Associate Director of Development, Financial Aid and Scholarships to coordinate major giving strategy with annual giving efforts in the program area. In addition, this position may include oversight of staff personnel.
