Single departmental function supervision and/or shift supervision in accordance with hospital policy. Responsible for the daily administration of tasks, scheduling and problem solving related to assigned areas. Supervises environmental services staff, coordinates and schedules efforts of the housekeepers. Plans work and trains new employees. Plans monthly cleaning schedule. Collects data for budgets. Assists in evaluation, disciplinary, and employee problems. Assists in selecting new employees, checking discharges, and daily cleaning. Position is responsible for meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders and department strategic planning.
Conducts facility inspections to assess physical condition of the facility to ensure appropriate sanitation and reports quality inspections to Director. Conducts training and development of staff as needed to accomplish departmental objectives. Coordinates staff meetings. Continuously assesses and improves the performance of the department. Evaluates facility conditions and needs and delegates appropriate assignments. Integrates the department with the facility to provide mutually beneficial outcomes. Meets daily with department director to discuss facility cleaning and direction for improvements. Keeps accurate records regarding project completion, attendance, etc. Inputs and updates time and attendance. Assigns work schedules at start of shift. Obtains feedback from customers to assure all cleaning needs are met. Oversees assigned set-ups and linen units. Responsible for processing New Hire/Annual evaluations. Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Preferred: Internal Housekeeping Association Certification.
EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Required: Three years environmental service experience. Preferred: One year supervisory experience preferred.
Special Skills: Ability to read in English to follow oral and/or written instructions. Must have basic computer skills. Must be able to prioritize projects and handle changing needs of the facility. Must have good customer service skills. Must have good knowledge of all Environmental Services functions.
