JOB SUMMARY: Plans, directs, coordinates, and monitors all Quality initiatives, policies and procedures within assigned department/s including but not limited to Quality Systems program, audits, monitoring of Laboratory Information System (Molecular / Microbiology), monitoring status of staff licenses, training, competencies, and certification of equipments. Confers with Administration, Medical Director, and Medical Staff to ascertain Harris County Hospital District needs related to Laboratory Services while ensuring activities are in accordance with FDA, AABB, CAP and JCAHO standards and HCHD Administrative policies.
Education/Specialized Training/Licensure: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry and certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
Work Experience (Years and Area): Five years? experience in Molecular or Microbiology
Management Experience (Years and Area):Three years of multi section management experience including Quality Systems
Equipment Operated: PC's equipment, Printer, Terminals, Analyzers, Microsoft Office; PeopleSoft (a plus)
Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contract), Writing /Composing Correspondence, Writing /Composing Reports
Other Skills: Analytical, Medical Terms, Research, Statistical, P.C., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access
Work Schedule: Flexible
Other Requirements: Travel between HCHD facilities.
