The Health Policy Research Institute at the University of California, Irvine is seeking a Community Health Program Representative (CHPR).The CHPR primary functions will be to obtain informed consent and recruit eligible participants from the UC Irvine ambulatory clinics, assist with the preparation of materials for health education sessions and conduct the intervention activities in the clinic setting. For the study intervention, the CHPR will serve as a health educator-advocate for patients with high blood pressure in the clinics. The CHPR will empower patients to develop self-management skills through communication, education, providing resources and empathetic coaching. Finally, the individual will assist the Principal Investigator in facilitating health education sessions with recruited participants, conducting intervention follow-up calls and provide administrative support to the Project Coordinator.Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the CHPR should be a highly motivated, dedicated individual who has excellent, professional interpersonal and communication skills; fluency in speaking, reading and writing Spanish and English; and the ability to work independently. This contract position is a 40% appointment, dependent on research funding.
