A Senior Quality Specialist (SQS) holds a masters (or higher) healthcare degree. The SQS applies healthcare experience, quality management expertise, accreditation/regulatory certification knowledge, change management and performance improvement experience to lead continued maturation of the OHSU Quality Management (QM) Department, OHSU Management System (OMS), and OHSU leader improvement capabilities. The SQS utilizes healthcare knowledge of complex SCQS systems, process improvement, and risk-based thinking to guide decision-making and influence others in planning, executing action items, and evaluating outcomes to achieve and sustain the desired results. The primary SQS focus is improvement in the patient care systems and processes, OHSU strategic healthcare priority initiatives, and the continued development and maintenance of an effective OMS reporting structure and processes. The SQS serves as an advisor, instructor, coach, analyst, and investigator while partnering with all levels of leaders to address performance gaps, improve outcomes and sustain gains. Specific duties vary based on assignment.
