BIRI is currently seeking a highly motivated MRI Technologist to support their groundbreaking research and clinical imaging program! Under general supervision, t he MRI Technologist performs at an advanced level to support the research activities for the Research Imaging Core and the BIRI faculty. The incumbent demonstrates advanced knowledge, makes complex research/technical judgments, and is competent in the field of certification. He/She will demonstrate continuous self-improvement, make effective contributions, and serve as a role model for peers, students, and other staff members.
Job Summary Continued:
The MRI technologist maintains competency of skills including the ability to perform procedures on subjects with diverse cultural backgrounds, identify safety concerns in the age related population and institute measures to provide a safe environment, and effectively communicate/explain procedures based on the subject's age and make adjustments accordingly. He/She will participate in scheduling, ordering supplies, stocking for daily MRI function and keeping a billing log. He/She will keep records of studies and scanner down time and loss of revenue. Additional duties may include general and administrative support functions necessary for routine operations. Adheres to Cedars-Sinai Health System Corporate Compliance Plan, Code of Conduct, IRB and IACUC policies, departmental policies and procedures, and complies with Job Hazard Analysis protocols.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs routine and specialized duties related to MRI imaging of patients and research subjects (human, canine, porcine) according to standard and research protocols and SOPs.
Demonstrates analytical abilities to identify and review problem situations, high level of responsibility and independence, flexibility with working hours (including evenings and weekends) to accommodate departmental needs.
Maintains equipment, supplies, and work area in accordance with departmental guidelines and expectations; includes imaging QA and minor troubleshooting.
Maintains accurate, comprehensive, and timely documentation of all activities.
Performs computer processing of acquired imaging; demonstrates and maintains working knowledge of imaging processing and software/hardware components.
Performs IV placement, administers contrast agents, provides other patient care duties within scope of license.
Coordinates studies by retrieving and processing requisitions and data, reviews requests for pertinent information and obtains patient history as needed.
Demonstrates ability to recognize serious health emergencies and responds with appropriate action, is aware of contraindications of testing.
Demonstrates professional maturity in all interactions with patients, research subjects, and staff.
Performs research duties (e.g., protocol planning/development, scanning, completing forms, informed consent, etc.) according to good clinical practices (GCP),regulations, institutional policies, and IRB/HIPAA.
