THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY ResponsibilitiesSenior Access Representatives are responsible for providing an assigned patient population all essential non-medical assistance while completing the following function for all scheduled admissions and unscheduled admissions, patient reception, registration, insurance verification, payer notification, authorization verification, collection of patient payment, patient intake, and referral to financial agencies/officials. Adhere to the established protocols of UCDHS, Finance Division, and departmental policy and procedures. Required Qualifications
Experience with pre-admitting, admitting, or registering all incoming patients ensuring accurate and complete patient, guarantor and coverage information as outlined by EMR registration standards, hospital setting preferred
Experience obtaining and verifying insurance eligibility, benefits and patient liability; third party payor liability; billing information
in depth knowledge of healthcare insurance systems, including but not limited to Medi-Cal, Medicare, HMO, PPO, fee-for-service, and worker's compensation to correctly assign payer plan code, coordinate eligibility, benefits, authorizations, and explain policies and requirements to patients
Basic understanding of diagnosis (ICD-9) and procedure (CPT-4) codes
Ability to make independent judgment within established guidelines
Ability to accomplish a variety of concurrent assignments in an effective and efficient manner
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
