Fondren Library strives to build collaborations across campus and beyond, continue to evolve staff expertise, and commit itself to first-rate services and ongoing improvement. The access services assistant sorts books and other library materials into call number order by Library of Congress classification system. S/he greets patrons entering the library, confirms identification and registration, and provides general information and directions in a courteous and professional manner. S/he checks each floor on a daily basis, and collect books left on tables, by copiers, and in study areas and maintains the neat and proper arrangement of furniture. The ideal candidate has superb customer service skills and is able to understand the needs of patrons in order to fulfill them.
