The Assistant Director of Academic Support, under general direction, assists with the operation and supervision of the Department of Student Success.
Develop, plan, and implement functions, staff, and budgets which includes Study Abroad Programs, University Tutoring Center, and learning assistance initiatives. Assists with developing programs that facilitate a successful transition and retention to the university. Provides information about programs and procedures to faculty, staff and students through outreach programs, in-service training, educational materials, presentations, promotional, and assessment activities.
Provides effective leadership through appropriate trainings and supervision of academic support staff. Supervises tutoring programs, which includes online and face to face tutoring support for students. Hires, trains, and keeps the tutoring staff up to date on current pedagogical trends, and CRLA certifications. Help develop and provide new tutoring, group learning, and other peer assisted learning services.
Assist the Director of Access and Inclusion to provide learning support to students with alternative learning needs. Manage daily operations, including scheduling and tracking of appointments and services and maintaining a tutoring calendar/schedule.
Implements and oversees study abroad opportunities, international student travel risk management, program development and coordination, and program compliance. Partners with members to create, coordinate, and provide study abroad opportunities for students. Develops and monitors the study abroad program scholarships and facilitates growth of campus wide study abroad programs.
Develops and implements procedures and guidelines to ensure adequate and system/state compliance for study abroad operations, program compliance, and dispersal of the study abroad program scholarships for students. Ensures related procedures and practices are in compliance with system, state, federal, and agency specific guidelines.
Oversees, creates, and conducts assessments and compiles data for monthly and annual reports. Have knowledge of departmental functions and oversee departmental operations when Director is out.
Collaborates with the Director of Student Success to plan, develop, and achieve goals for academic support in accordance with university and division goals. Helps facilitate overall vision and direction of academic support and its respective programming/initiatives through the continuous improvement planning process.
Develops and monitors budget activity and recommends budgetary adjustments to ensure the success of academic support programs.
Serve on university committees and attends departmental and university meetings as required.

Education â“ Bachelorâ™s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience â“ Six years of related experience with high school or College aged students in an educational environment.
Knowledge of â“ Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to â“ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Education â“ Masterâ™s degree in higher education administration or related field.
Experience - Five years of experience in academic support, tutoring, learning assistance, or related programs.
