Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. The Continuum Models and Numerical Methods group in the Computational Physics division at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking exceptional candidates for a postdoctoral or entry-level scientist appointment in the area of high explosives or energetic materials modeling. The successful candidates will be expected to perform novel and original research to develop new HE models and/or understand, implement, and test existing models and algorithms in large production software, and publish their research in leading scientific journals.
XCP-4 is a group of approximately 20 scientists with various technical backgrounds performing leading-edge research in advanced computational methods for multiphysics applications in support of national and global security. Specifically, we develop state-of-the art numerical methods for shock hydrodynamics and multiphase flow in both Eulerian and Lagrangian frameworks, as well as advanced physics-based computational models in a variety of areas, including high explosives, turbulent reactive flow and continuum solid mechanics.
Salary Range: $74,000 - $148,300 (Depends on position and experience level)
