The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, dba as UT Health San Antonio (UTHSA) Department of Urology invites applications and nominations for the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Urology. UTHSA is a comprehensive academic health university and research center in South Texas. One of six health institutions in The University of Texas System, UTHSA is the primary source of health professions education and life sciences research in the region and is a major center for patient care. The fastest growing department within the Long School of Medicine at UTHSA, the Department of Urology is home to robust research and training programs that prepare students for careers as academic leaders or practitioners within their community.
Reporting to the Dean of Medicine, the Chair works closely with the leadership of the Department and School of Medicine, faculty, and staff and is responsible for the overall administrative, academic and clinical activities of the Department. The school seeks an accomplished physician leader and clinician with a national reputation for clinical and scholarly activities. The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, strong financial acumen and have the ability to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across the Health Science Center.
Qualified candidates must hold an MD or equivalent medical degree; be board certified in Urology and eligible for medical licensure in Texas. The candidate must meet Texas criteria for appointment to a tenured full Professor faculty position.
