Final date: Tuesday, Mar 31, 2020 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Applications will continue to be accepted until this date, but those received after the review date will only be considered if the position has not yet been filled. Description Applications are invited for two postdoctoral research positions in observational exoplanet studies in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Irvine. The positions will start in Fall 2020 and will initially be for one year, but are expected to be extended for up to three years contingent on funding and annual progress evaluations. The successful applicants will have access to world class telescopes and instruments through the UC Observatories. UCI postdoctoral scholars may apply for time at Lick Observatory as PI, and will have access to the Keck Observatory through their faculty sponsors. One position will be to work with Prof. Steph Sallum on high angular resolution imaging, with a scientific focus on exoplanets and planet formation. This may involve developing interferometric imaging techniques, applying them to direct imaging observations with 8-10 meter telescopes, and/or planning for future instruments. One position will be under the supervision of Prof. Paul Robertson. Prof. Robertson's research group seeks applicants with interest and experience in ultra-precise Doppler exoplanet science. In addition to UCO facilities, Robertson's group has access to data from the new Habitable-zone Planet Finder (HPF) and NEID spectrometers. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in astrophysics or a related discipline by Fall 2020. It is preferred that candidates also have experience in observational exoplanet science. Candidates should include with their application the following items: Curriculum Vitae Research Statement, not to exceed 5 pages in length 3-5 letters of recommendation Statement of Contribution to Inclusive Excellence Interested candidates should apply online at UCI's online application system: https://recruit.ap.uci.edu/apply/JPF05875.
