The Associate Director, Leadership Giving works with the University Advancement staff connecting prospects with the University of Houston-Clear Lake to achieve its mission and goals. Assist the University Advancement staff by making discovery calls and soliciting gifts in the range of $1,000 to $10,000 per year. Re-define gift clubs, understand demographic screening and put in place a consistent and sustainable approach to donor discovery, cultivation and solicitation at the leadership level as the central responsibility. In addition, will work with the Director of Alumni Engagement and the Senior Coordinator of Annual Giving to develop and meet donor, alumni engagement and stewardship goals. Work with alumni and other volunteers to attain specific goals. Provide guidance to the programs and/or units through development of a strong donor base, strong strategic communication strategies, along with other development and fundraising related issues. Will participate in University-wide development activities and perform other job-related duties as needed.
Utilize technology, outreach, volunteers, communication strategies and other vehicles to identify and build a consistent donor base, making annual gifts in the $1,000 to $10,000 range
Develop and manage a portfolio of prospects from the leadership pool who are capable of making gifts in the range of $10,000 to $24,999. This position also initiates discovery calls on all potential Leadership Annual Giving prospects.
Attend and participate in university development activities on and off campus as needed.
Support other development and alumni staff in developing prospect pools for targeted goals and perform other duties as assigned.
1. Bachelor’s degree.
2. Five years of experience in development, advancement and/or fundraising or a related field.
3.Demonstrable success in face to face solicitation or other sales oriented program.
4. Experience using Microsoft Suite.
5. Ability to build and work with a diverse donor base including the ability to create relationships and use initiative to engage donors and match their passions to current university objectives. Particular emphasis will be on engaging new donors.
6. Ability to work independently as well as within a team. Must have a strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
7. Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
8. Clear, precise and effective oral, written, interpersonal and communication skills with attention to detail.
9. Knowledge of demographic screening.
Degree in Communications, Marketing, Psychology, Social Science or a related field. Demonstrated fundraising success in a higher education setting. Experience with constituent databases.
