The PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson is a 12-month program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The program is designed to train selected, highly motivated and highly qualified pharmacists so that they are prepared for a critical care position in an acute care facility and/or an advanced fellowship in an area of critical care or research. The program consists of concentrated training in all aspects of critical care pharmacy practice that aims to achieve all the requirements via core learning experiences and customizable elective learning experiences. The critical care resident’s core learning experiences include surgical-trauma intensive care unit (2 months), medical intensive care unit (2 months), infectious diseases, specialized nutrition support, and emergency medicine. The resident may elect additional training with services such as pediatric intensive care unit (ICU), neonatal ICU, cardiothoracic ICU, poison control/toxicology, solid organ transplantation, among others. The integration of clinical experiences with exemplary drug distribution system provides the resident with a solid background to enter into clinical practice post residency. The program also requires the resident to learn and develop teaching and research techniques.

The PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency is based in Tucson at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson and is a 12-month program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). This program is designed to prepare motivated and qualified pharmacists for advanced pediatric clinical pharmacy practice, including specialist and/or clinical faculty positions.
The program emphasizes clinical practice and consists of nine months of core (required) learning experiences in specific aspects of pediatric pharmacy and three months of elective opportunities. The resident will also have longitudinal rotations including research, staffing, pediatric pulmonary clinic, and committee participation. Elective rotations are customized to meet the needs of the individual resident, while accomplishing the objectives for the program. Therefore, the program will be individualized to suit the needs of the resident.
