This position supports the mission of North SuburbanMedical Center. The Wound Care CNSoversees and directs the care of the Wound Management Center patient seen forwound care. The Wound Care CNScoordinates all aspects of patient care delivered in the clinic and byancillary services. Responsible fordirect patient care, including planning, directing and provision of nursingcare to patients in accordance with the Colorado Nurse Practice Act, PhysicianOrders, recognized nursing techniques and policies, procedures, establishedclinical competencies based on NSMC’s wound care protocols. The Wound Care CNS is responsible to managethe quality management program for each patient using the Wound ManagementCenter algorithms. Demonstrates criticalthinking and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of thepatient. Responsible for meeting theclinical competencies set forth by NSMC. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the State of Colorado asa Registered Nurse, CPR Certified.
Education: Degree in nursing or medicaltechnology. Master’s in Public Health orrelated field, preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years acute care; ambulatorycare highly desirable.
SpecialQualifications: Provide courteous, positive and professional image. Demonstrates superior interpersonalskills. Ability to work with staff inwound care and with other departments, ability to problem solve and handlemultiple priorities. Knowledge ofgeneral nursing theory and practice including, but not limited to, asepsis andsterile technique, principles of body mechanics, and medicationadministration. Knowledge of learningprinciples for all ages and the ability to teach and develop an effectivepatient education program. Completesposition responsibilities by following established guidelines and protocolswith the appropriate time frames. Demonstrates good skills in all forms of communication. Works well with others in a spirit ofcooperation. Maintains education anddevelopment appropriate for the position. Adheres to established hospital and departmental guidelines andprotocols. Supports hospital mission,vision and values. Performsposition-specific job functions at an acceptable level.
