Job Summary This is a full time position that reports directly to the Red Door Market Place Operations Manager and Dining Services General Manager and is responsible for overseeing staff in the execution of customer service, floor operations, and dining unit maintenance. Will perform other general duties and assist production staff as required.
Job Duties - Supervise staff: includes assuring proper equipment usage, ensure following of sanitation and safety standards, ensure quality customer service, ensure quality product, and create a vibrant and positive environment for the Caltech community - General duties: Attend to customer needs/questions/requests, ring up orders, prepare and serve espresso, beverages, pastries, and other menu items, clean guest and service areas, maintain and stock retail and service areas, and attend to front of house needs - Ensure proper maintenance, set-up and breakdown of facilities - Provide excellent customer service and develop team members' customer service skills - Create and foster team work with staff, including chefs, keeping Operations Manager and General Manager apprised of daily activities and staff and customer concerns - Distribute work assignments to team members to assure proper service (pace and quality) - Maintain maximum standards of sanitation and safety - Be passionate about interacting with customers, particularly student-customers - Create, foster, and maintain positive relationships with Caltech staff, faculty and student body - Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Basic Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent - Customer service and communication skills, including the ability to speak English fluently - Barista knowledge and experience - Ability to work congenially and as a team with other staff members, student staff and customers - Ability to carry over 50 lbs - The selected candidates must pass a pre-employment background investigation and post-offer physical examination to be hired for this position - Ability to maintain attendance and arrive on time for all shifts - Ability to work nights and weekends - Detail oriented - ServSafe certification or ability to obtain one by time of hire
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in leadership, including the ability to provide direction and guidance to team members - Experience in an educational environment
