The Town of Granby Recreation Department is a small (3 FT (including new position), plus 8 seasonal) community recreation services provider, located in the north central mountains of Colorado. Our rural mountain community boasts unlimited outdoor recreational opportunities. Our area and our department are growing! This new position will be responsible for a multitude of programs. The successful candidate will: Plan, organize, run, and evaluate youth sports, including basketball, baseball, soccer, and volleyball programs, as well as adult sports, including volleyball, soccer, and softball. Candidate will also manage, produce and maintain social media posts for the Recreation Department. They will also assist the Recreation Director and Assistant Recreation Director with all recreation programs, including summer day camp, after school program, and Friday field trips. They will assist with all recreation department special events – Gut Buster 5k, Teen Flash Light Easter Egg Hunt, Daddy Daughter Dance, etc. Candidate will stay knowledgeable and current in the field of recreation, and attend continuing education opportunities, including the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) Conferences. They will also maintain certifications relevant to the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
Be knowledgeable in the field of sports and recreation, participate in professional development opportunities and remain current in changes within the recreation field. Thorough knowledge of and ability to lead drills and practices for a multitude of sports. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook. Must have the ability to learn recreation software and Adobe Illustrator. Ability to operate a 14 passenger short bus. Must enjoy working and interacting with people of all ages.
Education or Formal Training and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or a related field with at least one-year combined experience in the recreation field. Become certified in areas that are relevant to the recreation programs and services that we offer. Obtain and maintain certifications such as CPR & First Aid, Universal Precautions, Medication Administration, Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and other certifications relevant to this position.
