The Department of Family & Consumer Sciences at New Mexico State University announces an opening for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Microbial Food Safety. This is a 12?month tenure?track position with 63% research, 25% Extension, and 12% teaching responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing research and Extension programming in microbial food safety with a focus on chile peppers, fresh produce and processing of other commodities important to New Mexico. Classroom teaching (estimated as one class/year), mentoring graduate students and active participation in the departmental academic programs are required.

Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Food Science, Food Microbiology, Microbiology or closely related field in hand by date of hire. Successful candidate must have documented experience in food microbiology and/or food safety research with an emphasis in food processing and/or value?added food products.
