About the Department of Pathology: Comprised of extraordinary faculty and staff, our mission is to improve the diagnosis, treatment and basic understanding of human disease. We accomplish this through our clinical services, research, and training the future leaders in pathology and related fields. A major focus of clinical research in the Department continues to be the correlation of patient outcome and treatment response with the diagnosis of human cancers. Everything we do is to provide the highest quality of pathology diagnostic services to the patients for whom we passionately care.
Stanford University's Surgical Pathology is seeking a Data Aide 2 to record and retrieve material being requested for research. The Data Aide 2 will be responsible for accurately collecting the material from the hospital, research labs and our storage facilities. The material being requested will be in large, patient surgical specimens called slides and blocks . The material being requested will need to be appropriately documented and tracked throughout multiple databases. The Data Aide 2 will be required to enter data from source documents into a computer system and verifying the entries for accuracy and completeness. The Work is usually performed independently within general guidelines.
Accurately entering data from data sheets or charts into a database and/or manual filing system using specific, standard instructions.
Collecting research material throughout the department and its affiliates
Will require travel from at least two locations 300 Pasture Drive and 3375 Hillview Ave. for the collection of the requested material.
Will be responsible for maintaining documentation and data entry for all current and past assignments
Determine appropriate action to be taken for duplicate, inaccurate, or unclear information.
Maintain computerized and manual logs and files in accordance with established procedures.
Selectively apply a variety of procedures in measuring data, using judgment to determine how standard guidelines apply; may calibrate and use a variety of display, measuring, and/or calculating equipment requiring a few adjustments for proper results.
Assist with data collection when needed.
Perform audits of own work or that of others to ensure conformance with established procedures.
Provide administrative support when requested

Prior work in a lab or medical facility, ability to work with a small team and handle projects independently.
The ability to problem solve efficiently.
Strong verbal and written communication Skills.
Able to conduct themselves appropriately in a profession environment. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent and two years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Strong clerical, interpersonal, and basic organizational skills.
Good computer skills.
Ability to exercise judgment and employ basic reasoning skills.
Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity.
Occasionally use a telephone.
Writing by hand.
Frequently stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh
Lift/obtain block and slides boxes from high shelving unit that may be 5ft or more in height
Must be able to lift boxes of 30lbs or more.
