The Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMTP) supports nursing and medical staff in the delivery of patient care services and coordinates patient workflow within the Emergency Center. The EMTP demonstrates proficiency in clinical skills required for patient care and performs delegated technical functions relevant to area/assignment. The EMTP facilitates unit activities and business processes according to guidelines, practices safety measures and infection control standards; and participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
a. Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent Completion of Texas Department of State Health Services (TX DSHS) approved EMS training course 1 year experience as a certified/licensed paramedic
b. Licensure/Certification: Currently registered with the TX DSHS as certified Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic or Licensed Paramedic; CPR and ACLS through AHA; and PALS
Equipment Operated: Minor medical equipment, cardiac monitor, 12-lead EKG machine, computer Skills/Knowledge: EKG, Sterilization, and/or Phlebotomy competency validation required, as applicable to area/assignment
Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact) Writing /Composing (Reports)
