Description The Department of Internal Medicine is the largest department in the School of Medicine, with 9 divisions divided by sub-specialty, including Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Our team of 9 endocrinologists have expertise in type 1 and type 2 diabetes; thyroid diseases including nodules and cancer; parathyroid diseases and osteoporosis; pituitary and adrenal disorders; polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and male hypogonadism and infertility. Endocrine outpatient services are located in different sites in the Sacramento area: Ambulatory Care Clinic and the Primary Care Clinics in Campus Commons (Sacramento), Elk Grove, Folsom, Rancho Cordova, Rocklin, and Roseville. We use the state of the art technologies of ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration, insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring, and administer various infusions for treatment and testing as needed. Our two-year fellowship program is highly competitive and well respected.

Qualifications REQUIRED -At least one year paid recent NP experience. -Possession of valid California RN and Nurse Practitioner license. -Furnishing license. -DEA within three months of hire. -Graduation with a master's degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing. -National NP certification. -Current BLS and CPR certifications.

Responsibilities Under the general direction of an endocrinologist, the incumbent will perform direct patient care and manage patients who present with chronic and/or episodic health endocrine problems. The Nurse Practitioner will also perform administrative work such as X-ray referral, patient phone calls, interpretation of results etc. The individual will be a designated expert and resource person in Endocrine Consultation and communicating the findings to endocrinology and internal medicine physicians. Role may also include occasional teaching programs, participation in program planning and development of patient education information.
