Under the supervision of the Senior Director, the Digital Engagement and Social Fundraiser uses the latest emerging digital channels to identify and implement opportunities to engage, cultivate, solicit and steward UC San Diego alumni, students, parents, friends and the campus community. The incumbent is the strategist for the digital and virtual presence, serves as the primary point of contact for Annual Giving champions and will serve as community and volunteer manager for the crowdfunding platform.
The incumbent will be involved in the design, approach, and identification of specific channels and analytics that guide the work. Primary projects will include creative social media campaigns, such as crowdfunding and UC San Diego Giving Day, and social media messaging. Additional projects will include working with Advancement colleagues to identify multi-channel marketing opportunities that drive fundraising and engagement.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Thorough knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques. Demonstrated experience with marketing communications and branding promotions practices in order to support branding messages.
Thorough knowledge of marketing mediums and funding sources. Strong skills in event and media activities management.
Demonstrated experience with strategic fundraising and donor stewardship, preferably in a higher education setting.
Demonstrated ability to provide sound, professional social media communications strategy in a campus environment.
Tech savvy with high comfort and superb knowledge of latest social media tools; confident understanding of social media culture and good manners in the digital space.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating compelling social media content.
Strong analytical and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to make sound, timely decisions in fast-paced environment and react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require quick response or turnaround.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and bring assigned projects to completion within given deadlines, exercising initiative and appropriate follow-up techniques.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and political acumen skills to communicate and interact in a courteous, professional and effective manner with individuals at all levels, in person, in writing or by telephone.
Proven ability to build effective working relationships with campus administrators, leadership, faculty, and colleagues. Skill in mentoring less experienced staff.
Strong, demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize daily operations in order to meet deadlines and ensure smooth workflow. Proven ability to work independently to complete tasks and to work as part of a team to produce top quality work under time constraints.
Demonstrated ability to contribute as a productive team member and accept supervisory decisions and direction with a positive outlook. Self-starter who is creative and eager to learn and explore emerging technologies.
