San Diego State University (SDSU) School of Public Health (SPH) seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in the field of aging, broadly defined, to begin in Fall 2020. Primary appointment may be within the Divisions of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science, Epidemiology/Biostatistics, Health Policy and Management or Environmental Health. The successful candidate for this full-time, academic year, state-supported position will possess a doctoral degree in public health or other closely related field including those in the social sciences, psychology or medicine. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the areas of aging-related health disparities, community-based interventions, healthcare delivery, or epidemiologic research focused on exposures and/or outcomes in aging. However, we encourage applicants with expertise in all areas of aging and health research to apply. Applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply. The faculty member will support both the undergraduate and graduate curriculum of the SPH and is expected to teach courses and develop and maintain an independent program of externally funded research. Additional responsibilities include course development, thesis and dissertation supervision, and field practice supervision. Salary and benefits are competitive and are commensurate with experience and academic preparation.
