Description The Environmental Services Department is responsible for all aspects of Housekeeping functions/services in all UCDMC owned and leased facilities. The department is also responsible for the recycling, and shredding programs.

Qualifications REQUIRED -Knowledge and ability to deal with hazard waste (e.g., blood, body fluids, bio-hazard, pharmacy waste, chemo waste, needles and other sharp waste) -Knowledge and ability to consistently use proper body mechanics while performing work duties to minimize injury. -Knowledge of and ability to operate power machines such as buffers, extractor, trash compactor, vacuum, sterilizer, shredder and box truck. -Organizational skills and flexibility to prioritize each task to meet the changing needs of assigned area. -Knowledge of walls, windows and ceiling washing procedures to include light fixtures and vents. -Ability to prepare/dilute cleaning chemicals in the recommended proportions. -Ability to follow and complete a 7 step cleaning process. PREFERRED -Knowledge of and skill to apply specialized infection control protocols/sterile procedures specific to an acute care facility (preferred) SPECIAL REQUIREMENT -Incumbent must be willing and able to work variable shifts, overtime, weekends, holiday and float to other units/areas/building. -Position is subject to a Functional Capacity Assessment for new hires, a Criminal Background Investigation, and a Physical Evaluation. -Incumbent must possess a valid California Driver's License. -Will be enrolled in the DMV Pull Notice Program - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
Responsibilities This position will rotate in performance capacity of Floor Care Specialist, Trash Technician, Soiled Linen, Document Shredding, and other manual related duties as required and assigned by Supervisor or EVS Worker II's. Objectives are distinguished by the carting and transporting of Hospital waste and the stripping, refinishing and extracting of all Hospital floors.
