Specialized and skilled leader for a non-credited recreational or sports program. Creates and implements recreational programs for participants of all ages and may serve as a lead or mentor for other program instructors and may be required to provide instruction. Program leaders at this level are required to demonstrate considerable discretion, initiative and independence to resolve issues and perform other duties as assigned.
With work direction from the Recreation WorkStrong Sr. Coordinator, the Recreaton WorkStrong Coordinator will contact, coordinate and manage new clients following HIPAA privacy laws, as well as Recreaton WorkStrong policies and procedures. Maintains a positive working relationship with various departments at the Hillcrest and Thornton Medical Center as well as Recreation. Lectures on various health education topics at the UCSD Health departments for program and research purposes.
Must be able to drive to various UC San Diego locations for assessments and fitness training, including the UC San Diego Medical Center (located in Hillcrest) and the Thornton Medical Center (located in La Jolla).

Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving, to serve as a staff and Health resource for the exploration of new ideas in individual and group health and stress management. Knowledge of bio-metric testing concepts and programs to identify past, current and potential health problems that may be related to stress levels, cholesterol levels, blood pressure, body fat level and/or nutrition analysis. Ability to quickly and safely assess participants' skills and limitations, and to create programs to challenge them appropriately. .
Effective marketing, promotion, publicity and public relations skills.
Ability to analyze data, to prepare and execute a variety of projects, and to implement effectively any needed changes.
Basic knowledge of industry standards for exercise equipment. Ability to research and evaluate new products and services to maintain and enhance the program's effectiveness.
