USC's Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry is looking for a talented Sterile Processing Technician to join the Instrument Management Services team. Shifts may vary from day to evening. Morning shifts vary from Mon-Fri 6 am - 2 pm, day shift vary from Mon - Fri 8:30 am-5 pm and evening shifts vary from Sun 8 am-4:30 pm & Mon-Thurs 4:30 pm - 12:00 am.
Receives, prepares, processes, sterilizes, stores and issues sterile and other medical supplies and special technical equipment to facility departments.
Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes instruments, equipment, surgical linen and supplies. Prepares and processes packs, supplies, equipment and instruments according to designated principles of asepsis. Conducts and evaluates daily chemical tests on autoclave chambers, chemiclaves and dry heat sterilizers. Receives contaminated instruments/supplies and dispenses sterilized instruments/supplies. Fills requisitions, records charges and inventories supplies. Delivers and picks up supplies and equipment.
ALL candidates MUST be certified as a Central Service Technician. Please upload appropriate certificates as an attachment.
Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes instruments, equipment, surgical linen and supplies. Operates semiautomatic or automatic sterilizing equipment, such as autoclaves, tabletop chemiclaves, ultrasonic cleaners and decontaminators.
Prepares and processes packs, supplies, equipment and instruments according to designated principles of asepsis. Inspects and replaces missing or damaged instruments. Makes minor repairs on equipment and maintains in working condition.
Conducts and evaluates daily chemical tests on autoclave chambers, chemiclaves and dry heat sterilizers. Takes biological samples from autoclaves.
Receives contaminated instruments/supplies and dispenses sterilized instruments/supplies. Maintains established computerized control systems for supplies and equipment received, processed and dispensed.
Fills requisitions, records charges and inventories supplies.
Delivers and picks up supplies and equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
Minimum Education: Specialized/technical trainingMinimum Experience: 1 yearMinimum Field of Expertise: Completion of sterilization/central service technician training course and certification as Central Service Technician. Experience as Central Service Technician in a clinical setting. Registered Central Service Technician certification or Sterile Processing Technician certification required. Working knowledge of sterilization techniques and equipment, universal safety precautions, and requirements of organizations such as JCAHO, Board of Dental Examiners, OSHA and ADA.
