Description The Department of Neurological Surgery is a clinical specialty unit in the School of Medicine that provides direct patient care, training and graduate medical education, and basic and applied medical research programs. It serves as a referral center for neurosurgical patients in northern California.

Qualifications REQUIRED -Current California PA/DEA licenses -National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants -BLS certification -Advanced experience in Critical Care -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Judgment skills to effectively meet needs of patients
PREFERRED -Minimum two years recent experience in care of neurosurgery patients -ACLS

Responsibilities The Neurosurgery Physician Assistant provides specialized patient care and guidance to neurosurgical patients and their families. Direct patient care is provided to inpatients and outpatients in the hospital and clinic, including obtain history and physical, pre-and post-operative management, order and follow-up of laboratory and radiology studies, telephone triage of patient phone calls, attendance at M & M and QA conferences as required.
