The Office for the Prevention of Harassment & Discrimination (OPHD) is responsible for ensuring the University provides an environment for students, faculty, and staff that is free from discrimination and harassment on the basis of all legally protected categories. OPHD's mission is to educate the entire UC San Diego community about these issues and to assist with prevention efforts and the investigation and prompt and effective resolution of all complaints. OPHD provides analysis and guidance in all areas pertaining to institutional compliance with federal and state laws, and University of California nondiscrimination policies. Reporting directly to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, OPHD conducts civil rights investigations and guides senior campus leadership in all Vice Chancellor areas.
The Program Analyst and Response Team Coordinator provides case management functions for OPHD in matters regarding nondiscrimination and harassment prevention to ensure that the campus provides an environment for students, faculty, and staff that is free from discrimination and harassment based on sex, race, and other protected categories outlined in university nondiscrimination policies. The Response Team Coordinator assists OPHD in maintaining a reporting mechanism where any member of the University community can submit a complaint of alleged harassment or discrimination and, in collaboration with OPHD staff, works with complainants and respondents to resolve complaints formally or informally.
Under the direction of the OPHD Director, the incumbent is responsible for case coordination, tracking, reporting and analysis for all complaints and inquiries received by OPHD. The Response Team Coordinator tracks all complaints and inquiries received by OPHD through the full lifecycle of each case, including tracking and communicating deadlines and deliverables for all cases. The incumbent is responsible for case coordination, analysis, and preparation of communications/ reports/ recommendations on items relating to OPHD harassment and discrimination cases.
The Response Team Coordinator maintains a database to ensure that complaints are tracked and can provide summary statistics to unit leadership for case management. The Response Team Coordinator performs regular data integrity checks to ensure the accuracy of electronic and hardcopy records. The Response Team Coordinator generates reports from the database for internal and external inquiries, including requests for information from media and public records requests. Maintains the confidentiality of all reports and records in accordance with UC policy and applicable laws regarding records retention. Works with campus and/or community leaders, faculty, staff, and students to educate the campus about Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, the ADA, and FEHA issues.
The Program Analyst and Response Team Coordinator supports the campus Response Teams charged with coordinating the campus' response and support of survivors of sexual violence, sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking. The Response Team Coordinator independently provides high level analytical and executive support to Response Teams and identifies, implements and coordinates Response Teams' activities.
Serves as liaison to Response Teams on matters of interest/concern to campus leadership to ensure effective complaint receipt, triage and response. Coordinates the response to Office of the President and UC system requests relating to university-wide issues and benchmarked areas. Provides relevant information to campus organizations on issues of importance related to sexual violence and sexual assault. Maintains external relationships with Response Team personnel to provide point of contact and information on metrics and key initiatives.
Provides support to OPHD on special projects. Other responsibilities include performing a wide range of duties that require high level analysis, tact, sensitivity, independent judgment, diplomacy, organizational skills, flexibility, and discretion.
