Under the supervision of the Infusion Managers, the Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for a variety of clerical and receptionist duties in support of daily patient services within clinical areas. The scope encompasses greeting patients, check-in and check-out procedures, appointment scheduling for Infusion Center at Hillcrest and La Jolla and quick appointments for Laboratory Services. Conducts registration, insurance and authorization verification, updates patient demographics, dispositions appointments, answers multiple phone lines, calls patients for their appointments, sends telephone encounters, expedites EPIC orders by routed referrals through the chemo work queue, and works closely with physicians, nurses, staff and other UC San Diego departments and staff. Other duties as assigned.
Three (3) years of previous related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.
Demonstrated working knowledge of medical terminology.
Demonstrated experience with insurance and authorization.
Possess demonstrated knowledge of third party payors including federal, state, and private health plans.
Strong problem-solving ability by using good judgment and applying these skills to assist customers and ensure customers' expectations are met.
Possess thorough computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems.
Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.
Be a self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization.
Infusion Center scheduling experience.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
