The Intake Coordinator for Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH) is responsible for the daily coordination of the Utilization Management processes. This position serves as the initial intake of pre-service requests, claim reviews and inpatient hospital coordination, coordinates Utilization Management processes with PHC Medical Directors, UM Nurses, hospitals, physicians and other various internal and external customers, creates member records, completes notifications, sets up prior authorization events, and provides clerical support to PHC clinical staff in their medical necessity review process.
In Addition, the Intake Coordinator for BSWH has the following responsibilities:
Â·Responsible for inbound communication with providers and facilities related to utilization review requests. Process phone and electronic authorization requests for medical services from providers and facilities.
Â·Capture patient information and documents to allow for a clinical review for authorization determinations. Reviews communications for completeness of information.
Â·Communicates prior authorization status information to providers upon request.
Â·Processes discharges from facilities and notify clinical staff of discharge.
Â·Ability to use various office machines (computer, fax, copier, scanner)
Â·Performs clerical duties, including the uploading, scanning, electronic transmission and filing data.
Â·Complete return memorandums when request are missing required information or request does not require prior authorization.
Â·Complete annual HLC's and verify that Compliance requirements are met.
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Â·Ability to use various office machines (computer, fax, copier, scanner, and mail machine)
Â·Experience in an office/customer service environment required.
Â·Healthcare/managed care experience is highly preferred.
Â·Able to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
Â·Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
Â·Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Â·Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Â·Able to work individually as well as with others as part of a team.
