The Quality Program Coordinatorprovides leadership, manages quality assurance activities and monitorsprocesses and regulatory compliance to maintain best care practices at afacility level. The Coordinator plans and executes strategies to remedy currentand anticipated quality issues. The Coordinator regularly reports to topmanagement regarding compliance performance and remedial needs and is able tomake independent decisions requiring judgment by using general guidelinesprovided by leadership. Essentialfunctions of the role include:
Â·Coordinateswith organizations to develop and execute plans to resolve quality issues.Trains and educates organizations in quality improvement techniques and toolssuch as continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities, Failure Modes andEffects Analysis (FMEA) and Midas+. Coordinates quality activities and monitorsprocesses to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards related toperformance improvement, patient safety, risk management.
Â·Formulatesand disseminates policies and manuals detailing quality maintenance techniquesand procedures.
Â·Maintainscommunication with regulatory and accreditation agencies to remain abreast ofrequirements, deadlines, anticipated changes.
Â·Servesas liaison to external agencies such as FDA, FAHCT, JCAHO, Medicare and otherdepartment-specific agencies as applicable for audits, inspections and surveys.
Â·Assumesmanagement responsibilities and duties of absent or vacant appropriate-levelHealth Care Improvement positions.
Â·Providesleadership and supervision not limited to quality assurance staff to assurefulfillment of department goals.
Â·Servesas a consultant in the implementation or revision of best care practices anddemonstrates the ability to coach, mentor, teach adults, lead and facilitateteams.
Â·Usesproject management and interpersonal skills to mobilize appropriate staff tocomply with Quality Plan and other regulatory standards.
Â·Preparesand manages statistical data through the extraction of relevant material asrelated to cores measures best care initiatives, reliability audits,investigations/inspections, patients and other information as required by thedepartment. The collection or tracking of information may include, but is notlimited to: HPC, CFR, FDA, FAHCT, JCAHO
The ideal candidate for theQuality Program Coordinator role is able to read and interpret complex statutesand regulations and apply knowledge to manage exposure to compliance risk. The ability to review policy and proceduredocuments and assess impact on quality of care, and develop and execute plansto remedy current and anticipated quality issues are integral to the role. The ideal candidate must be able to manageinspections, surveys and audits and provide appropriate responses. The knowledge of regulatory audit, inspectionand survey processes, and ability to consult and instruct on matters relatingto quality initiatives and regulatory requirements are required for the role.
