The Clinical Risk Manager is a member of the System Risk Management Department. The position directs, develops, and coordinates the clinical risk management activities for hospital operations. The Clinical Risk Manager integrates information obtained from the reporting of adverse events, near misses, RCAs and issues related to clinical risk. With this information, the Clinical Risk Manager analyzes findings and will work collaboratively with Patient Safety and hospital leaders/managers to develop responsive programs that will enhance an organizational culture that supports patient safety and reduces risk exposure.
Additional job duties of the Clinical Risk Manager include, but are not limited to:
Addressing day to day questions and problems involving patient care or concerns.
Receiving information from other individuals who are accountable for complaint and Ethics Hotline management about specific patient care processes that may create risk of patient harm. The CRM will assist designated individuals to address or resolve complaints and Ethics Hotline reports.
Participating in the effective disclosure of adverse events to patients and families by serving as a consultant and educator to those accountable to disclose this information.
Investigating and preparing for the root cause analysis of sentinel events to include the development of a timeline, contacting the required participants to determine their attendance, scheduling and participating in the meeting, writing the report of the analysis, schedules a follow-up corrective action plan, and monitors the plan.
The Clinical Risk Manager will possess a Bachelor's Degree in a Healthcare related field and four (4) years of experience in a clinical discipline or Associate's Degree in a Healthcare related field and six (6) years of experience in a clinical discipline or a RN (Texas Licensed) if less than at the Bachelor's Degree level and six (6) years of experience in a clinical discipline.
The ideal candidate for the Clinical Risk Manager role will be able to develop and present educational programs for personnel in order to enhance employeesâ awareness of their role.
