Department: DEVELOPMENT: ADV SERVICES - 061025 Department Description: Development and Alumni Relations is engaged in helping UC Davis reach its potential through philanthropic support and in supporting UC Davis alumni and retirees to maintain a lifelong connection to the university. Providing vital support to the University's multibillion dollar fundraising and stewardship activities are the systems that connect UC Davis' donor base of alumni and friends with each donor's personal philanthropic passion. Advancement Services manages centralized Gift Acceptance and Processing and all advancement systems support (including Advance, Michelangelo, and Reeher) to departmental staff campus-wide. Services provided include programming support, data/information management, data analysis, system auditing and compliance, formulation and implementation of gift policies, acceptance and processing of gifts, and user documentation and training. The Gift Services unit is critical to the strategic initiatives of the campus as it is utilized by campus departments and by UCOP in performing complex financial analyses and predictive modeling. Advancement Services is the office of record for the alumni and donors of the University of California, Davis.

Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Advancement Services, responsible for providing oversight and project management as a Lead Scrum Master. Duties include providing technical leadership in advancement and other university system projects with high complexity, varying risk, and sometimes minimal structure. Applies project management framework such as Agile and Kanban to solve problems or unique issues that arise. Functions with a high degree of autonomy, independently developing strategies and guiding teams to develop high quality technical products. Will be involved with projects of broad scope and size that have high visibility and impact to DEVAR and the rest of UC Davis. Provide recommendations to teams as well as Advancement Services leadership regarding project work flow, status, scheduling, and team size.
Physical Demands: Work at a computer and view display screens for extended periods of time.
Work Environment: Due to the mission-critical services provided by this department, this position may work hours other than M-F 8-5, especially in response to system problems. Being on-call as required. Occasional travel required. Travel between campus and off-campus locations.
Work flexible or extended hours as workload demands. Work in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions.

Minimum Qualifications: Project management experience. Experience and skill to lead a team through development and implementation of project planning documents appropriate to the situation; develop budget, resource, test, implementation, quality assurance, contingency, risk management plans; develop and apply project methodologies appropriate to the situation.
Experience in managing information technology projects for which a structured project approach was applied.
Technical knowledge of architecture and tools for the following: software application development; web services; security services; workflow technology; data repository services; client-server technology; cloud-based technologies; desktop technology; file services; directory services; and business process analysis.
Knowledge of and experience with project management standards, processes, tools and techniques appropriate for a variety of project types, sizes and criticalities.
Knowledge of project portfolio management standards, processes, tools and techniques.
Experience in team leadership across a diverse variety of team sizes and compositions.
Customer service skills to exercise tact, diplomacy & professionalism to translate delivery and customer needs into effective solutions.
Experience in Agile/Scrum project methodologies and their application to a variety of project types.
Experience in technical project consulting, analysis, and management.
Experience in adapting to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in science or technical discipline, with an emphasis in technology management or information management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive experience in managing information technology projects for which an application development methodology was enforced.
Experience mentoring other project managers in executing a portfolio of projects across an organization.
Experience defining and implementing project portfolio management standards, identification and assignment of portfolio components, and project prioritization.
Experience designing, developing and implementing project management standards and project portfolio management processes.
PMP Certification and CSM certification.
Experience with Axosoft, ServiceNow PPS, or other project portfolio management tools.
Experience in Advancement Services & fundraising environment.
Skills to build consensus & manage competing needs and expectations.
Experience in a higher education environment.
Experience in building and managing customer/client relationships
