The Center for Behavioral Health Services and Implementation Research (CBHSIR) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine, is seeking a Social Science Research Professional 2 (Project Coordinator) to perform work to support implementation science research projects across the CBHSIR portfolio. Research in this portfolio includes: integrated behavioral health in primary care systems; medications for addiction in routine medical and specialty care settings; and evidence-based mental health prevention and treatment services locally, regionally, and nationally. Operational and system-wide targets for our activities are at national, state, county, organization, individual provider, patient and family levels.
CBHSIR is dedicated to translational research that directly benefits patients and families by improving their chances of receiving evidence-based treatments at the right time and the right place - whenever and wherever needed. To accomplish this mission, we use the methods and metrics of implementation science. This emerging science is the study of strategies to integrate evidence-based health interventions into clinical and community settings - in order to improve patient outcomes and benefit population health.
Assist in designing experiments, exercising independent initiative and judgment gained from completing a variety of high level assignments, including activities such as defining variables, formulating hypotheses, and selecting subjects, sources of information, or planned and coordinating experimental protocols.
Adapt or work out the details of new, nonstandard procedures, with the supervisor providing general guidance and suggestions.
Interpret, synthesize, and analyze data using scientific or statistical techniques.
Solve problems, and make decisions that affect the direction of the research and result in independent contributions to the overall project.
Select and apply standard calculations and formulas independently to compile data or process documents; often serve as a resource for research methods and numerical analyses.
Co-author sections of research publications and regulatory reports as needed.
Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities of a limited scope as needed.
Supervise staff or students as needed, including oversight and instruction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work.
Develop a communication strategy and tools for communicating with research partners.

Advanced degree in applicable social science, public health or related field.
Desire to take initiative, solve problems, and handle substantial responsibility.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Substantial experience with standard software packages including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to successfully juggle and prioritize among multiple projects.
Ability or interest in learning software for website maintenance, databases, and social media.
Background in mental health, substance use, co-occurring disorders, and behavioral health integration in primary care

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor of Arts degree in an applicable social science related field and two years applicable experience, or combination of education and experience in an applicable social science.

Occasionally stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, writing by hand, and sort/file paperwork or parts.
