JOB SUMMARYThe Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator provides pharmaceutical care to patients in accordance with federal, state and local regulation and hospital policy. Oversees the clinical functions of pharmacy practice, including those that extend into operational functions. Develops new and existing pharmaceutical care activities in a cost-effective manner. Serves as a mentor and resource for Pharmacists and Technicians.WHAT IS EXPECTED (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)-Designs and oversees continuous clinical quality improvement processes-Advances practice through the development, implementation and maintenance of protocols, care paths, drug information and policy, drug-use evaluations, and drug-use guidelines-Actively participates in or directs pharmacy residency and student training programs-Stays abreast of the best practices in Pharmacy and communicates these practices to Pharmacy staff-Provides educational services to Medical, Pharmacy, Nursing or other personnel through formal and informal presentations or written publications-Responsible for Staff Development where and/or when needed-Provides leadership in departmental or health system quality improvement efforts-Serves as a resource or consultant to healthcare professionals in the care of their patients in an area of expertise for the assigned siteFinancial, reporting and regulatory:-Determines protocol budgets and/or new therapy cost projections-Ensures compliance with accrediting regulations-Actively participates in BSWH committees/task forces as needed and serves effectively as facilitator or leader when necessary-Participates in the intervention, adverse drug reaction and medication variance reporting systems-Develops and presents reports as needed related to these and other quality initiatives.
