Experienced leader for a non-credited recreational or sports program. Designs, creates, implements and instructs recreational programs for participants of all ages. Required to demonstrate considerable discretion, initiative and independence to resolve issues and perform other duties as assigned.
The Office of Physical Education, Recreation and Sports (OPERS) is the UCSC campus Recreation and Wellness Center. The Recreation Department, within OPERS, offers a wide variety of adventure-oriented programs, designed to welcome and engage students of diverse backgrounds and experiences. The Assistant Sailing Instructor will assist the lead sailing instructor teaching beginning, intermediate and advanced dinghy sailing to youths aged 8-16.
Client service focused, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills to resolve non-standard issues.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
Thorough knowledge of program activity and industry best practices.
Experience sailing small boats.
Experience teaching basic, intermediate, and advanced sailing.
Ability to obtain and keep current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification prior to employment.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
