We are pleased to announce an open position within our dining leadership for a Manager - South Campus Dining. This position has responsibilities for our Rotunda Café in the Magnuson Health Sciences Center Court which serves breakfast and lunch daily, featuring a rotating menu of regional and international entrees, a pasta bar, soup station, a salad bar and made-to-order entree salads, pastries and snacks. The position also manages Overpass Espresso, a coffee kiosk featuring a selection of grab-and-go lunch items, pastries and snacks in the same building, along with a small convenience store located on the 2nd floor. It also manages our Café 815 Mercer located at UW Medicine at South Lake Union, which offers a daily lunch entrée and rotating salad and sandwich specials. We also have a wide selection of grab-and-go lunch items, pastries and snacks. Café 815 Mercer offers a full espresso menu including organic teas and refreshing iced drinks.Key Responsibilities
Ensures that staff understands the vision, values and priorities of the Department and that work within the unit is in alignment.
Maintains high visibility with, and accessibility to residents, Residential Life staff, HFS staff, visitors and guests.
Ensures that unit work complies with all contracts, policies and procedures applicable to the operation.
Participates in the development of business plans and budgets, ensuring compliance once they are implemented.
Prepares and submits required reports, including payroll, production and service records, etc.
Monitors and reviews reports, including financial statements, production records, staffing schedules and inquiries from the HFS Financial team. Determines and reports on probable causes for budget variances or discrepancies and makes adjustments accordingly.
Collaborates with the executive chef, onsite management team and campus Residential Dining Administrator in the development of menus and services.
Participates in the development and implementation of new concepts and products, as well as the promotion of campus and HFS activities and events.
Monitors compliance with marketing standards and promotions, and takes corrective action when necessary.
Identifies effective venues for solicitation of customer feedback and responds to complaints, questions and special requests in a timely fashion.
Ensures a safe work environment. Corrects all unsafe practices, poor equipment and/or work habits that might lead to an accident. Ensures that an Incident Report is completed and filed for every work-related accident and injury. Notifies appropriate authorities and personnel as needed.
Maintains security measures to prevent theft and vandalism.
Develops and maintains an ongoing cleaning schedule to ensure a consistent level of sanitation and cleanliness.
Conducts in-service training as needed on unit safety, cash handling, food safety, food preparation and/or customer service.
Reviews the HFS internal and external websites to ensure the description for the operations is accurate, including menus and hours.
Keeps up with dining trends and communicates new ideas to the leadership team.QualificationsBachelor's degree in institutional management, hotel and restaurant administration, home economics, business administration or related field; a minimum of two years of management experience in the food service industry that demonstrates the competencies outlined above. The successful candidate will possess and demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.Conditions of Employment

Washington State Food Workers Card within two weeks of hire and maintenance of thereafter.This position will work a Monday to Friday schedule 8 am to 5 pm, additional days and hours needed at times to support business operations.The salary range for this position will be $4788 to $5317 per month + benefits.
