The Department of Pediatric Surgery is seeking an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join a group of 9 pediatric surgeons, 3 pediatric nurse practitioners and 3 physician’s assistants. The selected candidate for this position will coordinate, direct and implement the patient's plan of care. Responsibilities include interpretation of pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies/procedures, initiation of medical recommendations and/or referrals as well as formulating, implementing and evaluating an outcome-based treatment plan for pediatric trauma and surgery patients at our busy Level I pediatric trauma facility. The candidate will work in close collaboration with pediatric intensivists as well as emergency medicine specialists to ensure safe and seamless coordination of care. In addition, the candidate would facilitate the educational mission within the Department of Pediatric Surgery. The ideal candidate will maintain appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes, facilitate patient education relating to medical diagnosis/processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion, as well as collaborate with patients, families, other clinicians and referral services to formulate and assist in the patient's plan of care. We offer dedicated orientation, which includes didactic and practical time, ongoing education in children’s surgery and trauma in addition to a progressive teaching environment with a fabulous group of surgeons and advanced practice team.
Minimum requirements: Graduate of a master’s prepared acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program with certification or eligibility for certification and licensure as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner in the State of Texas. New graduates are welcome to apply!
