The Director identifies the cost-effective systems needed to support the business of the department taking into account business trends, resource availability and changes in customers and environment. This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and vendors. The Department Director works with Senior Management in meeting facility goals. The Director oversees third party consultants, maintenance vendors and central plant maintenance service contracts to ensure proper vendor performance. Assures that all buildings and support systems are properly maintained and readily available for immediate service. This position serves as the Hospital Environmental Safety Officer. This Director evaluates goals and priorities for the Hospital along with opportunities in the community served to improve the safety of the staff, patients, physicians, and visitors from an Environment of Care (EC), Life Safety, (LS), and Emergency Management (EM) perspective. The Director will develop and implement EC, LS, and EM process improvements as well as standardize best practices for the hospital. The Director will also be responsible for working with local authorities and regulatory agencies to strengthen the EC. LS, and EM programs. The Director will have the responsibility to recommend and monitor policies and procedures which comply with federal, state, local and The Joint Commission regulations as well as other applicable regulatory agencies. Serves as the subject matter expert for Environment of Care while supporting facility leadership and training. Serves as Chair of the Environment of Care Committee and actively participates in various committee structures.
• CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager) or CHC (Certified Healthcare Constructor) preferred. • CHEM or CHSP Preferred. • Certification in Emergency Management preferred. • Good working knowledge of repair and maintenance of equipment found in a hospital setting other than that maintained by Bio-Med services • Strong Communication, Public Speaking, and presentation skills.
