Position Summary: The UC CalFresh Nutrition Education Program Community Education Supervisor 2 is responsible for the coordination of the California Nutrition Education program focusing on delivery of nutrition education to low-income youth and adults.
This includes supervising, training and guiding nutrition education extenders, developing and implementing a yearly work plan, developing and overseeing yearly budgets, evaluating work plan objectives, and writing reports. This person will also coordinate efforts and serve as a liaison with other agencies providing related services in the Butte Cluster (Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Sutter and Yuba counties), build and maintain formal and informal coalitions of partners, tailor special nutrition education projects, and maintain subject matter competence.
The overall goal of the program is to promote healthy lifestyles for low income students, parents and adults. This is accomplished by direct teaching and extender training on practical nutrition, food resource management, food safety, and the importance of physical activity.
Promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.

Duty 1: Directly supervises Community Education Specialist I and II (CES I/II) positions. Mentors and trains CES I and II positions and extenders as appropriate.
Provides training and oversight on program procedures, curriculum and teaching methodology and oversees staff teaching in the field.
Provides significant input to staff performance and development, team building and communications, resolution of issues and conflicts, review and approval of work, and recruitment, hiring and training of employees.
Ensures quality control and compliance with established standards and procedures for assigned programs. Assigns, monitors and reviews progress and accuracy of work.
Reports to the Nutrition Education Program Manager. Advises Nutrition Education Program Manager on changes and improvements to Community Education Programs.
Handles complex issues raised by subordinates.
Represents UCCE and specifically, the nutrition education programs throughout the county cluster in a professional manner. Function:Program Leadership and Supervision Percent: 20
Duty 2: Develops and oversees Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) Integrated Work Plan (IWP) and budget.
Develops recruitment and re-enrollment strategies for extenders. Develops extender trainings and adult workshops to meet the educational and cultural needs of participants.
Researches and develops special nutrition education projects and materials.
Collaborates with other nutrition programs and community agencies and coordinates outreach efforts.
Seeks out new resources and/or proposes development of new materials to potentially use in the program.
Participates in piloting new curriculum, materials, delivery, or evaluation methods.
Recruits, hires and trains new staff as necessary to meet the needs in the Butte County cluster.
Actively promotes and markets UCCE nutrition education programs to schools, community organizations, and agencies that serve low income youth, adults and families.
Develops, prepares, and updates marketing materials and social media. Function:Program Development Percent: 35
Duty 3: Trains extenders (including professional and para-professional agency staff, educators, interns, and volunteers) and CESs on CalFresh Nutrition Education approved curriculum content and nutrition education methodologies which are respectful of the diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds represented by participating individuals and families.
Provides ongoing support to extenders and CESs to assist in the implementation of curriculum lessons as intended by the curriculum authors and UC CalFresh state office.
Maintains contact with extenders and CESs to ensure collection of program enrollment information, nutrition activity record forms, evaluation forms, and other necessary program documentation.
Develops and/or conducts extender training on approved curriculum, materials, forms, etc.
Performs clerical tasks as necessary to prepare and deliver workshops and trainings. This may include duplication of materials, maintaining a filing system, organizing and maintaining supplies in a professional manner, and assisting with ordering and purchasing of program related materials and supplies. Function:Program Implementation Percent: 25
Duty 4: Collects and compiles yearly enrollment and evaluation data from nutrition education extenders to measure program delivery and effectiveness as directed by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) and the UC CalFresh state office.
Writes and submits program reports.
Maintains confidential program records and reports in an appropriate manner. Function:Program Administration Percent: 20

Experience managing a large SNAP-Ed program. Required
Education or relevant work experience in Nutrition, Public Health, Health Sciences, Education or other field related to community nutrition education programs. Required
Experience supervising others. Required
Experience and knowledge of budgets and accounting. Required
Ability to organize and prioritize activities to meet programmatic and fiscal work plans. Required
Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, social media, and other web-based programs. Required
Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Health Science, K-12 or Adult Education or other relevant field or education equivalent. Required
