Ensuring the smooth and productive use of all things that plug in, use batteries, beep or depend on a digital network, the Director of Technology manages all aspects of the Giddens School’s and Lake Washington Girls Middle School’s IT infrastructure providing strategic direction and oversight for the development, implementation, integration and user support of all information technology systems, including hardware, software, video, data, and voice.
Managing technology resources and operations, the Director of Technology serves as primary IT support for the TwoSchools, responsible for creating, implementing and monitoring computer hardware and software plans as well as supporting staff and students with the use of technology. This is a professional, full-time, year-round administrative position.
The schools will be moving from their current campuses to one shared campus in November 2019. The Director of Technology will be integral to this move.
LWGMS and Giddens have 300+ users and an inventory of 400 machines including Chromebooks, iPads, iMacs, notebooks, and laptops. We are a mixed environment utilizing Mac, Chrome, and Microsoft and we mainly use Android and Mac Apps for Education. In addition to a school-wide telephone and bell system, the classrooms are equipped with various AV equipment.
The ideal candidate will be organized, self-motivated, flexible, and willing to take a creative approach to technology systems. They will be both a transformational leader and a hands-on tech specialist with an inclination to work in a diverse community empowering learners to consider issues of equity, inclusion, and social justice.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Plan, purchase, install and maintain technology hardware & software (ex. computers, AV systems, copiers/printers).
Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including telecommunication systems, security as well as user accounts, G-suite, and other internal systems.
Review, maintain and evaluate the technology budget and any technology project expenses.
Support students, teachers, and administrators in the use of technology and technology-based systems, responding in a timely fashion to their needs.
Work closely with the Leadership team and Teachers to understand and anticipate the technology needs of the school and lead and manage projects to create solutions and/or training to meet those needs.
Oversee setup and breakdown of all technology needs for school events such as projectors and sound equipment
Work with academic technology team to support the development and implementation of digital literacy curriculum through the use of digital learning tools.
Supervise a Tier 1 Technology Help Desk Coordinator whose work will be guided by the director and who will be responsible for direct support of faculty and staff
Collaborate with the two Heads of School to engage the community in the discussion and assessment of digital educational tools, developing and updating the school’s Technology Plan to provide a framework for prioritizing technology projects and promoting the meaningful use of technology in the classroom.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field desired; equivalent work experience may be substituted for a degree.
Minimum of three years’ experience in computer support, network management or related field;
