The ideal candidates will possess a degree in their field, teacher certification and/or significant teaching experience, and understand how to work in a Professional Learning Community. All teaching candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree as a minimum requirement. Candidates should possess:
A minor, major, or advanced degree in the discipline to be taught
Teacher credentials, significant teaching experience, and/or an advanced education degree
Familiarity with or a willingness to learn iPad technologies for instruction and student learning
A desire to participate in and strengthen the Catholic mission of the school
Additional Salary Information: Salary is determined by degree and experience on the Bishop Gorman salary scale. The starting salary for BA/1st year is $37,317. Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage is offered through the Diocese of Las Vegas. Nevada has no state income tax.
About Bishop Gorman Catholic High School
Bishop Gorman High School was founded in 1954 by the Clerics of St. Viator and moved to a new campus in 2007. With an enrollment of about 1500 students Bishop Gorman is the only Catholic High School in Southern Nevada.
As a college preparatory school, Bishop Gorman has a 98% college bound rate. The Class of 2018 boasts four National Merit Scholarship Commended students, one National Merit Scholarship Finalist, three National Hispanic Scholars, one Harvard Book Prize winner, and was awarded over $30 million in scholarships. Bishop Gorman operates on a modified block schedule with block days on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A variety of fine art classes are offered through our curriculum including ceramics, drawing, digital photography, guitar, orchestra, theatre, dance and much more. The Bishop Gorman thespians have been Theatre State Champions 6 years in a row and have won three national titles. There are many opportunities throughout the year to see our art students showcase their talents.
