The University of Washington and the VA Puget Sound Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) are jointly recruiting for one full time Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (without tenure due to funding) commensurate with qualifications, in the Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Department of Medicine. This appointment would have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. The successful candidate will organize, develop, and monitor clinical demonstration projects and participate in administrative leadership of the GRECC in the role of Associate Director – Clinical programs (AD-C).
The AD-C is responsible for:
Providing high-quality medical care to older Veterans, by means of face-to-face clinics, telehealth clinics, and E-consults.
Providing leadership in identifying, developing, securing support for, conducting, and evaluating clinical demonstration projects (exportable models of care aimed at improving the health and well-being of older Veterans).
Collaborating with the Associate Directors for Research and Education and Evaluation in the development and implementation of novel clinical protocols relevant to the aging Veteran population.
Contributing to our mission in education and teaching, including teaching and mentoring in Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, and related specialties.
Developing clinical programs, including in long-term care, based on local and regional needs.
Raise visibility of GRECC activities and contributions.
Act as "Ambassador" for the GRECC program within the larger VA system.
Anticipated start date would be January 2020 or thereafter.
University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
Requirements include an MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and Board Eligibility or Certification (or foreign equivalent) in Geriatric Medicine
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens (permanent residents may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
Applicants should demonstrate a record of teaching, mentoring and a commitment to scholarly output. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to oversee clinical programs in Geriatrics and a record of directing quality improvement programs or other scholarly clinical activities in Geriatrics, as well as the ability to provide high-quality geriatric care to Veterans in various treatment settings.
