Avanza Healthcare Strategies is supporting our client Cedars-Sinai in its search for a motivated and energetic Administrator for a high-volume and fast-paced Endoscopy Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) located in Los Angeles, CA. The Ambulatory Surgery Center, an affiliate of Cedars Sinai, is physician-run and home to the latest advances in technology and equipment, many of the area’s most reputable physicians, and a hand-picked team of dedicated, experienced nurses and technicians.
The ASC Administrator will be a critical member of the leadership team and responsible for the daily oversight of the administrative and clinical operations of the surgery center.
SUMMARY OF ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the mission and vision of Cedars-Sinai Health System and Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation.
Consistently provide direction on new opportunities in business growth, strategic planning, marketing, and daily operations and will have oversight of all ASC processes, programs, plans, procedures, credentialing files, services and policies.
Coordinate, in conjunction with the Governing Body, the long-range financial development, and management of the center.
Ensure that organizational projects/goals are met, and this position has budgetary responsibility for assigned areas.
Teach and coach staff on workflows including the creation and adherence to standard work.
In conjunction with the Director of Nursing, manage subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs and takes the time to know the status of each staff member's skill level and opportunities for training.
Demonstrate the important characteristics and responsibilities of a leader and takes the time to communicate with key stakeholders to make sure they are updated on new projects, programs and completion of projects/tasks.
Work with Governing Board in charting and implementing the Center’s mission in accordance with the needs of the community
Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, professional and regulatory agency standards and licensure requirements. Maintains staff compliance with health system and Foundation policies, procedures and protocols
Foster an environment, which promotes staff growth and development as well as assess staff’s educational needs and implementing programs to meet those needs
In conjunction with the Director of Nursing (DON) establish and maintain standards of nursing care
Responsible for ASC policy & procedures and coordinate efforts for AAAHC and/or JCAHO, CMS, State of California accreditation surveys
Manage, hire, supervise the selection and training of new team members and ongoing professional development of staff
Prepare and present management reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to the Governing Board and Medical Executive Committee
Prepare materials for and attend meetings of the Governing Board and Medical Executive Committee
Function as key resource for staff and physicians in utilization of key information systems and technologies. Assumes responsibility as practice liaison for the resolution of system related issues, identification of opportunities for improvement and implementation of key systems and system and workflow enhancements
Provide direct coaching, performance management and mentoring to employees in designated areas
Oversee and provide training to staff
Participate in the design and support the operational implementation of organizational restructuring, new workflows, processes, programs and technologies
Maintain strong partnership and collaborative communication across department areas of the Foundation and with associated service departments of CSMCF. Serve as liaison for areas of operational responsibility with facilities management, patient billing, utilization management, quality, risk, human resources and payroll.
Knowledge of the principles and experience in the practices of health care planning and management
Familiarity with health care billing, codes, terminology
Outstanding written and oral communication
Fiscal management skills. Proven ability to prepare, monitor and control budgetary expenses and generate increased productivity and revenues.
Knowledge of regulatory, reimbursement, legal and policy issues as they relate to operational management. Strong working knowledge of State Licensure requirements and other compliance regulations including Joint Commission, AAAHC, and HIPAA standards.
Experience with Lean Management. Demonstrated experience with running a department in a manner that supports the concept of continuous improvement, a long-term approach to work that systematically seeks to achieve small, incremental changes in processes in order to improve efficiency and quality.
High degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to analyze situations and take effective action
Analytical ability to synthesize data to develop reports and help inform decision making
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Five years of management experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting
Previous experience in a freestanding ambulatory surgery center
Bachelor’s Degree required in Healthcare, Management or related field
Graduate of accredited nursing school and active RN license preferred
Master’s degree in health care management or business administration preferred.
